5 reasons why I still love IMC

1. IMC develops taste. Your taste develops after each presentation given by a classmate. Your taste develops after each presentation you yourself delivered. This is because success in IMC is largely dependent on good taste—which I loosely define, in the context of IMC, as knowing what works and communicating it with utmost refinement.

2. IMC forces you to put order in your life. The reason why IMC students complain a lot is not because of all the work (because I’m sure all the courses have a lot of work too.) It is largely due to the fact that in IMC, you don’t have control over your own time. IMC is a course that requires you to be in tons of groups…and being in tons of groups requires tons of meetings. Simply put, without order, it is impossible to be a useful group mate (*cough* freeloaders *cough*), and have an existing social life.

3. In IMC, real learning does not happen inside the classroom.

I remember the first brand that was assigned to our group. We were required to visit 5 branches of Coffee Bean. My parents didn’t believe I was required to go to a mall… for school…for majors.

IMC requires a lot of fieldwork, interviews, surveys, spying, pakalan ng mukha with “connections.” It requires sacrificing free time to watch ads on youtube just so you don’t end up looking like an idiot when asked to analyze one on the spot. I’ve seen a lot of blockmates enter IMC as shy and reserved, and in less than one year, turn into great speakers and great conversationalists. All because IMC is far from conventional.

4. In IMC, no one is afraid to tell you you are wrong. Your self-esteem will crumble in the beginning… but you get used to it after a while. IMC teachers know how to tell the truth, even if it hurts. IMC teachers are the worst with giving grades..and they know this. I’ve never been so satisfied with a 2.25 before, because I knew that it was a 2.25 I deserved. Your groupmates also develop a peculiar sense of authority—of never settling, of never saying “okay na yan para tapos na,” which can be the most irritating thing but can also produce output you never imagined you could come up with.

5. IMC is the fun theory, turned into a course, set in hell.

Wrote this so people don’t get any wrong ideas on the reason for my shift of courses. I still love IMC :)

Hi, please help us find my friend. NOEMI LAGMAN (21, 4’10, mid-heavy build, morena) a student of Asia Pacific College, Magallanes left her house at Multinational Village, Parañaque yesterday (January 6) around 9am-10am to enroll carrying P33K. She was last seen at the entrance of Multinational Village near Duty Free, Parañaque. Her usual route going to school is from Multinational Village (Parañaque) to Heritage Hotel EDSA (Pasay) and to Asia Pacific College, Magallanes (Makati). I last got a text message from her at 9:41am and it seems she has never reached school (she was not registered at school as enrolled). Her mobile phone couldn’t be reached since last night.

Please reblog, please help. Thank you.

This Is Just Great of the Day: Appearing in the latest Target circular is 6-year-old Ryan: A happy, gregarious, photogenic rising star in the world of child modeling — who happens to have Down syndrome.

Ryan has also appeared in a recent Nordstrom catalog among other clothing ads.

On the Daddyblog of a father whose child has Down syndrome, Ryan’s mother writes:

The whole process of modeling is an extreme confidance booster for him. He received so much warmth and caring from the Nordstrom crew that he thought they were there just for him! We are honored that Ryan is making the Down syndrome community proud. He is a beautiful boy inside and out. He makes us better parents, and a better family.

this made me smile today.

The cozy, elevated dining pods at Restaurant Fabbrica in Bergen transports us back to a time of forts and makeshift tree houses. These snug, elevated niches however, are tailored to an adult sensitivity, boasting delicate chandeliers and glass stemware were designed by Tjep Studio, an Amsterdam based architecture and design firm. A large pizza oven is decorated in with a gorgeous Bisazza tile mosaic, while geometric industrial containers hold the oven’s wood. Natural light floods in through an expanse of open windows and arched glass atrium, giving the space a greenhouse-like feel. Overall, Restaurant Fabbrica echoes with a simplistic authenticity, not overly polished, but just right.
